Hostel

Mændenes Hjem has a hostel for homeless men, the hostel is meant to be temporary lodging.

  • · Both single and double rooms are available
  • · Mændenes Hjem has a hostel section with 43 rooms.
  • · You must make sure that the payments are made either in cash or via yourlawyer/representative.

Commune

MændenesHjem also has a commune. The commune is a good and spacious place for a group of people that is not able to live other places. The target group is mentally ill people with substance abuse.

  • · There are 8 singe rooms.
  • · Visitation must occur in cooperation with Copenhagen’s municipal government       Social-psychiatric service.

Living unit

Mændenes Hjem also has a living unit, here the overall goal is to create more humane and continuous conditions for those who are not able to live on there own. The target group is elderly people

  • ·There are 15 single rooms.
  • Visitation happens in cooperation with the Homeless service of the Copenhagen Municipal Government and the Mændenes Hjem’s Living unit.

Special housing

Mændenes Hjem has 20 special housings in Colbjørnsgade.

  • ·Visitation occurs in cooperation with the Homeless service of the Copenhagen Municipal Government.

Night café

Mændenes Hjem has a night café where homeless people, drug addicts and anyone else that needs a cup of coffee, warmth, a little chat or even acute help may visit.

  • · The café opens at 24:00 hours
  • · Both sexes are welcome in the Night Café.

Night café for women

Mændenes Hjem has a night café for women as well. Here any homeless woman may come for a cup of coffee, shelter, a chat or even acute help. The Night Café is open during the night only. The Women’s night café is expected to Open in 2011.

  • · The café opens at 22:00 hours.
  • · The Women’s café is only open to women.

Offers of Health Services:

Health Clinic

Mændenes Hjem has a health clinic for the homeless. Whether you are actually homeless or live at Mændenes Hjem you are welcome to use the facilities of the clinic.

  • · The clinic is open for substance abusers when open both during the day and in the   evenings.
  • · The clinic reaches out to the inner Vestrebro.
  • · Both sexes are welcome.
  • · The offer is free.

Volunteer doctors

Mændenes Hjem is equipped with a corps of volunteer doctors who from Tuesday to Friday offer consultation to homeless and drug addicts.

  • · Available from 18:30 till 20:30 hours.
  • · Consultation about acute as well as non-acute conditions and diseases.
  • · Both sexes are welcome
  • · The offer is free

Dentist services

Mændenes Hjem also houses a dentist office known as ‘Bisserne.’ The dentist office gives opportunity of free dental service for homeless and substance abusers. The dentists are volunteers.

  • · The office is open on all week days.
  • · Appointments can be made by telephone 21 67 89 31.
  • · Both sexes are welcome.
  • · The offer is free.

Distribution syringes, needles and condoms among other things.

· The availability of these items are unlimited at Mændenes Hjem and are available 24/7

Social work:

Contact place

Mændenes hjem has a contact place which helps homeless people and drug addicts seek treatment and find a proper place to sleep.

  • · The people at the contact place will provide support and comfort in comparison to     the homeless and drug addicts.
  • · The social workers focus mainly on the inner Vestrebro.
  • · Both sexes are welcome.

The “Bridge-building” project

This project is focused on homeless and drug addicts of other creed or ethnicity than Danish, whom are situated in Vesterbro.

  • · The bridge-builders offer help in beginning treatment for substance abuse and obtaining proper places to live.
  • · The bridge-builders concentrate their work mainly on the inner Vesterbro.
  • · Both sexes are welcome.

Cafeteria:

Mændenes Hjem has a cafeteria who’s goal is to offer homeless people and rejects the best food they can get.

  • · The food served in the cafeteria is good, healthy and cheap.
  • · Much of the food is organic.
  • · In the weekends there is brunch in the moring
  • · Both sexes are welcome

Clothes for the homeless.

· The homeless have an opportunity to get free used clothes for both summer and winter use.

  • · Both sexes are welcome.

Hus Forbi
