Socialt frikort
The social exemption card gives men and women experiencing homelessness, psychological vulnerability, substance abuse, or other social disadvantages the opportunity to participate in a working community on their own terms.

With a social Frikort, you can earn up to approx. DKK 43,000 annually without deductions in benefits. But it’s about more than money. It’s about having a reason to get up in the morning, about belonging and about being met as a human being with value and potential.

A Working Community for those who are otherwise Excluded

Social Frikort is targeted at men and women who do not fit into the ordinary labour market. Many have experienced rejection, barriers and systemic adversity. Here, you get the opportunity to take small steps back into a job – without requirements for a CV, pace or permanent employment.

A Frikort job can be anything from cleaning, painting, maintenance of green areas to tasks at hotels, events, recycling centres or NGOs. Some are employed internally at Mændenes Hjem in Beskæftigelsen – an alternative to crime, begging or sex work on Vesterbro’s open drug scene.

Beskæftigelsen creates more than 225 employments monthly with a focus on dignity and inclusiveness in an everyday life characterised by vulnerability.

How Do We Work?

  • We reach out to the target group through community centres and cafés
  • We match Frikort workers with workplaces that show respect and inclusiveness
  • We support both employees and companies all the way – from application and start-up to payroll administration and social support
  • We create collaborations with private, public and civil actors throughout the city
  • We are constantly developing new methods and documenting the effect together with VIVE
  • We collaborate with the Municipality of Copenhagen

The project is run by Mændenes Hjem with support from VELUX FONDEN.

In two years, over 3,000 frijobs have been created and 145 social exemption cards established.
